Wirt County Journal July 21, 1999 Obituaries Ruth Ann Frymier Ruth Ann Frymier, 63, of Parkersburg, died July 16 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born March 9, 1936, in Jack son County, a daughter of the late Alva and Maggie Dailey Riggs. She had worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and was a homemaker and a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Rita Dawn Ingram of Charleston and Melissa Dawn Easton of Macfarlan; one son, William C. Frymier of Tanner; one sister, Freda K. Powell Of Parkersburg; five brothers, Albert and Sylvester Riggs, both of Parkersburg, Walter Riggs of The Plains, Ohio, Delmer Riggs of Sandyville and Ralph Riggs of Ravenswood; one stepson, James Frymier of Kansas City; one stepdaughter, Peggy Gumm of Newark; one grandson, Justin L. Ingram; and seven granddaughters. She was preceded in death by one son, Arthur Ingram; and several brothers and sisters. Services were held July 20 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Lloyd Winans and .Larry Riggs officiating. Burial was in .Mount Olivet Cemetery. Opal Ruth Gates Opal Ruth Gates, 77, of Parkersburg, died July 15 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late Jack and Minnie Dorst Smith. She was a member of Gates Ridge United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Markle of Harrisville and Connie Ingold of Washington; four grandchildren, Joe Markle, John Markle, Russ Ingold and Christi Hinton; three great- grandchildren; special friend, Ralph Barnes; two brothers, Vernon Smith of Washington and Everett Smith of Parkersburg; and four sisters, Betty Skinner of Parkersburg, Lena Thompson of Parkersburg, Ireta McCoy of Washington and Nina Allman of Mineral Wells. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Gates in 1977. Services were held July 19 at Ogdin- Kimes Funeral Home, north Parkersburg, with the Rev. Cindy Eakle officiating. Burial was in Gates Ridge Cemetery Wilma MeCroskey Wilma Leora Grudier McCroskey, 73, of Marietta, died July 13 at The Inn of Marietta. She was born in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Herman and Bernice Deever Grudier. She was a member of Decatur Chapel and a member of the Gray Toppers Club at Decatur Chapel. She was also a member of Friends and Neighbors Club of Vincent and was a 1945 Wirt County High School graduate. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra K. McCroskey Bookman of Belpre and Karen S. McCroskey of Cincinnati; one grandson, Jeffery S. Wasson of Clendenin; one sister, Elma Woods of Chardon, Ohio; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Kellis and Nellie McCroskey of Belmont, Ohio, Gail and Geraldine McCroskey of Elizabeth; and one sister-in-law, Lucy Nelson of Ashtabula, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellet I. McCroskey on Nov. 2, 1990, one brother, Edwin Grudier; and one sister, Lee Ware. Griffith McKinney, 61, of Bull Creek Road, Parkersburg, died July 16 at her residence. She was born in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Calvin Foutty and Romaine Hammond Foutty of Parkersburg. She was a member of Full Gospel Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, Jack I. McKinney Jr.; two daughters, Darlene Arthur of Parkersburg and Lisa Thomason of Indiana; three sons, John Lipscomb of Texas, Don Lott of South Carolina and David Lipscomb of Indiana; three stepsons, Jack L. Pina Delphia Stockton Pina Delphia Stockton, 93, Rt. 2, Albany, died June 24 at Pickett County Nursing Home in Byrdstown, Tenn. She was the wife of the late Jesse Oscar Stockton and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Donald Stockton of Albany and Mac Arthur Stockton of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Rosemary Dennis of Albany; three brothers, Roscoe White of Parkersburg, Dorvan White of Elizabeth and Ronzel White of Frametown; two sisters, Naomi Gilbert of Elizabeth and Edna Evans of Muncie, Ind.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, George H. Stockton, and one daughter, Letha Burch. Ralph B. Stutler Ralph B. Stutter, 82, of Norton, Ohio, formerly of Creston, died July 17 at Barberton Citizens Hospital, Barberton, Ohio. Services were held July 20 at Stump Funeral Home. Grantsville, with the Revs. William Delmas Stutler and Dennis Stutler officiating. Burial was in Cooper Cemetery, Creston. Ralph E. Tanner Ralph Earl Tanner, 69, died May 8. He was born Much 21, 1930, a son of the late Herbert and Cora (Evans) Tanner of Burning Springs. He served in the Air Force from 1951 until retirement in August 1972. He was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran. He was married in 1955 to Norma Jean (Burns) Tanner in Big Springs, Texas. His duty in the Air Force was as a safety officer. After retirement, he worked at Sears, and for the last eight years at Dub Richardson Ford until retirement in January 1999. He enjoyed woodworking, outdoors, family gatherings and lively discussions. He is survived by two daughters, Susan Pata of Oklahoma and Vicky Harms of Casper, Wyoming; two sons, Ralph E. Tanner Jr. and Herbert Tanner, both of Oklahoma, four brothers, Alvin Tanner, Morris Tanner, June Tanner and Richard Tanner; two sisters, Eva Russell and Carolyn Cottrell; a brother-in-law, Bob Browning; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jess Tanner; one sister, Mary (Tanner) Browning. Graveside services were held May 12 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
