Wirt County Journal May 19, 1999 Remember When... * From the Wirt County Journal files. October 15, 1920 My Friends After listening to bitter criticism of the Wilson policies, it is well to take a brief review of what they have accomplished. A partial list is sufficient to convince a reasonable man that his policies have not been far wrong. They have given us a development of the parcel post and rural free delivery, a good road bill, a secretary of labor in the cabinet, an amendment to the anti-trust act freeing labor and taking it from the central of dealers, the Smith-Lever bill for the improvement of agriculture, farm loan banks and postal savings banks, but the greatest of all is the Federal Reserve system which has effectively solved and silenced the money panics, which have heretofore engaged business in many life and death struggles. The bitterness against our great president is without foundation and has been engendered by envious men who are out of control of our government and are looking on with envious eyes. Notice Save Your Broom Corn On November 1, F. T. Newberry's Broom Shop at Palestine will resume operations. Price reasonable. August 22, 1958 Board Arranges For Extra Rooms At Two Schools Wirt County Board of Education voted Tuesday night to accept the offer of Newark Baptist Church to use a room of the church for a classroom during the coming school term. Rent Room at Morristown With an anticipated enrollment in the 80's at the Morristown School up Tucker Creek, the Board rented the former store building in that community and is converting the large room into a classroom.
