    1. Re: [WVWIRT-L] Wirt County Journal, July 7, 1999, Obituaries
    2. Sorry, I can't help you on your Bertha Ball. My family were pacifists and left Wirt (Wood) in 1862 the 1st time. They later came back in order to sell property (on Tucker Creek) and then settled in Kansas (Belleville). Some of my family is buried in the Old Ball Cemetery on Tucker Creek. In answer to the will question. There was an old gentleman in Elizabeth who was the local historian (his name escapes me) and he sent me much information. He has since passed away. The Court House should be able to help you. We visited there in 1987 in our RV and the whole town was so helpful and treated us with such courtesy. We spent an entire afternoon at the Court House looking up records, and on our walk back to our RV the owners of a "funeral parlor" came our and introduced themselves and asked if they could help us with any info. Names associated with my Ball family are: Barnes, Bennet ("John" first settler on Tuckers Creek) Leach, Statts, Butcher,Daugherty, Good, Smith, McCleary, Riley, Roberts, Hayes, Wilson, Melrose & Renick.
