Wirt County Journal June 16, 1999 Obituaries Bernard C. Lowe Bernard C. Lowe, 82, of Two Ripple community, Wirt County, died June 10 at his residence. He was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Wirt County, a son of the late Floyd and Sissie Cooper Lowe. He was a graduate of Wirt County High School and retired in 1982 as a school bus driver for Wirt County Board of Education. He was the former owner and operator of Lowe's Greenhouse and Lowe's Shoe Repair Shop in Elizabeth. He attended the Southern Baptist Fellowship of Elizabeth and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a lifelong resident of Wirt County and one of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth D. Varner Lowe; one son, Larry D. Lowe of Wildwood, Fla.; two daughters, April Lowe Goff of Elizabeth and Lisa S. Vaughan of Gassaway; two brothers, Robert Lowe of Elizabeth and Floyd E. "Mutt" Lowe of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Gathalea Uhrain of Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren, Rebekah Nuckles of Gassaway, Isaac Goff and Abram Goff, both of Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by three brothers,Lloyd "Jeff" Lowe, Jack Lowe and Percy Lowe; two sisters, Alberta Higgins and Pearl Lowe. Funeral services were held June 12 at Southern Baptist Fellowship of Elizabeth with Pastors John Watkins and Dwight Goff officiating. Burial followed in Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Elizabeth. Arrangements were entrusted to the Busch Funeral Home of Elizabeth. In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to the Southern Baptist Fellowship of Elizabeth, c/o Busch Funeral Home, P.O. Box 43, Elizabeth, W.Va. 26143. Fred H. Wilson Fred H. Wilson, 87, of Gihon Road, Parkersburg, died June 8 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Richwood, a son of the late Frank and Tabitha Hammerick Wilson. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 1212 and he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 423rd Infantry Medical Detachment. He was retired from the B&O Railroad and was a farmer and former Wirt County resident. He is survived by his brother,-William Wilson of Elizabeth-, friend and caregiver, Paul Blair of Mineral Wells; and several nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Services were held June 11 at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of elizabeth with the Rev. Melvin Scott officiating. Burial was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery of Elizabeth.
