Plan to Fence Area Around Jail Wirt County met in regular session Monday, Sept. 15, at which time they ordered building of a fence around two sides of the Wirt County jail, some six or eight feet away from the building. The fence, to be of link wire on steel posts set in concrete, will be seven feet high, with three strands of barbed wire at the top. It will be built by C.H. Morris of Parkersburg. The fence will serve to keep a gap between the jail windows and the sidewalk "loading area," and also a double-barricade guarding against possible escape by prisoners. The work will likely be done within the next two or three weeks. Court ordered purchase of some mattresses and blankets for use in the jail.
