Corn is about laid by and good, oats are cut and an extra large crop, hay is good and a large crop. July 25 at noon at the residence of L. B. Rader, the wedding of Mr. Clay Anderson of Liverpool, W.Va., to Miss Mae Rader, the daughter of L. B. Rader and wife, was performed by the Rev. Rebel. May their life voyage be smooth sailing. Do not be surprised if we report another wedding soon from Buffalo. Russel Cheuvront has bought himself a Ford from O. J. Daniell and son of Elizabeth. Snoden Huffman has returned to Baltimore after a 10-day furlough from Uncle Sam. He is in the motor transport corps. Dallas Thompson, son of C. B. Thompson, is home from Dayton, Ohio. He has been in the aviation corps for four years and received his discharge. Cattle buyers from Cleveland, Ohio, have been buying cattle near Reedy. They have bought about $15,000 worth. Cattle buyers will come after cattle where the scrub sire is eliminated. F. H. Morehead's children have the whooping cough. T. J. Lee sold H. P. Thompson a cow and calf. The farmers meeting at Two Runs was not very well attended. Through some misunderstanding the meeting was expected the week preceding in which there was a large crowd. Hartley Items The South Penn Co. at this place had a very lively and pretty expensive fire on last Wednesday, when in some way the Power House which was pumping seven wells caught on fire and burned to the ground. The writer does not know the exact figure that could be estimated, but all of the machinery about it was destroyed. It was located on the A. B. Wilson farm. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Russel Bell of this place on the 19th an eight pound girl. Born to Roy Pepper and wife on the 24th a big baby boy. Mrs. Phebe E. Pepper received a very badly sprained wrist last week, caused by a fall. Local & Personal G. W. Haught, of Brushy Fork, delivered some calves here on Saturday. Earl Evans, of Parkersburg, was a business visitor here between trains on Saturday evening. On account of work closing down at Akron Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Coe, formerly of this place, have moved from there to a place north of Cleveland where Mr. Coe has work. June 13, 1958 Local and Personal Events of Interest METZ FAMILY VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. William Metz (she the former Betty Cain) and children, Sherry Rae and Barbara Ann, of Vienna, spent Memorial Day weekend with Mrs. Metz' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cain, City. WILSONS OF WEIRTON HERE Mr. and Mrs. John H. Wilson of Weirton, W. Va., spent the period from May 31 until June 10 on vacation, visiting his mother, Mrs. Tabitha Wilson, City, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dent, Rt. 4, City, and enjoyed some fishing. MRS. WRIGHT MOVING Mrs. Emma Wright advised us last weekend that she was moving from the Scott apartments to an apartment over the I. P. Thorn & Son Store in Elizabeth. LEES VISITORS HERE Mr. and Mrs. John E. Lee of Cleveland, O., where he is principal of the large Charles E. Elliott High School, and Mr. Robert E. Lee, of Belpre, O., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ball, City, over Memorial Day weekend. BOWENS VISIT HERE Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bowen and daughter, Mary Hazel, of Canton, Ohio, were here for Memorial Day weekend, and E. C. Bunnell, Rt. 2, City, returned with them for a few days visit. HERE FROM WEIRTON Mr. and Mrs. Ray Givens and son, Jimmy, of Weirton, and Jimmy Ash were here all last week on vacation visiting J. M. Ash of Rt. 4, City. New Arrivals GIRL BORN TO GIFFINS Mr. and Mrs. Chester B. Giffin of 212 Mountain Ave., Ocford, Ala., announce the birth on Friday, June 6, 1958, of a six-pound, 13-1/2 ounce baby girl, whom they have named Terrilyn Dee. The mother was the former Miss Jean Terry of Decatur, Ala., and Mr. Giffin is a son of Harris Giffin and the late Mrs. Giffin, Rt. 3, City. ROBERTS BOY BORN Vo-Ag instructor and Mrs. Charles P. Roberts of near Elizabeth are parents of an 8 lb. 1/2 oz. baby boy, born Tuesday, June 10, 1958, at the local Coplin Hospital. He has been named Charles David. There are three girls in the Roberts family. Mary Charlotte, who soon will be 7, Christy, 4-1/2, and Marty, past 1-1/2. BOY BORN TO GIBSONS Born to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gibson of 839 Chester Ave., Akron, Ohio, on March 13,1958, a baby boy, named Paul Michael. They have three other children, Gary, 9, Eddie, 6, and Diane, 4. The Gibson family spent Memorial Day weekend here the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gibson, Court St., City.
