    3. Wirt County Journal October 20, 1999 Obituaries Flossie Bailey Flossie M. Bailey, 80, of Loudonville, died Oct. 11 at her home after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Elizabeth, a daughter of Octor Vanas and Ida Pearl (Ash) Adams. She married Charles William "Bill" Bailey on Sept. 18, 1937. He died Oct. 18, 1978. She made her home in Loudonville since 1953 and retired from the Holiday Nursing Home, where she worked in the laundry department She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Loudonville. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard and Janice Bailey, Kenneth and Roger Bailey, Shirley Ring, Sharon and Lacy Taylor, Virginia and Roland Studer, all of Loudonville, Ray and Patricia Bailey and Carl Bailey, all of West Salem, Earl and Lillie Bailey of Waukee, Iowa, Robert and Susan Bailey of Bailey Lakes, Paul Bailey of Burbank, Carolyn and Robert Kramer of Ashland; 42 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Calvin Adams, both of Hanoverton; and one sister, Pearl Nutter of Parkersburg. Services were Oct. 14 at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville with pastors Dan Mettler and Gary Lucas officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Tony Cottrell Tony Cottrell, 50, of Scenic Hills, Parkersburg, died Oct. 13 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County. He was a 10-year U.S. Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was a Wirt County High School graduate and a member of Pine Twist Baptist Church. He was employed by the Westfield Insurance Co. He was an avid runner, a member of the River City Runners Club and taught aerobics at the YMCA in Parkersburg. He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Milliman Cottrell; his parents, Lawrence and Cleo Cottrell Lawson of Elizabeth, one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Melissa Cottrell of Mineral Wells; one daughter, Shannon Cottrell of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Cody and Amber Cottrell of Mineral Wells; and two brothers, Russell Cottrell and Rondal Lawson, both of Elizabeth. Services were held Oct. 16 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Valery Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the River City Runners Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4496, Parkersburg, W.Va. 26104. Mamie Easton Mamie Easton, 70, of Macfarlan, died Oct. 14 at Parkersburg. She was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Louisville, Ky. She is survived by her husband, George C. Easton Sr.; two daughters, Beulah Echard of Newark and Naomi Clark of Macfarlan; two sons, George Easton Jr. and Roger Easton, both of Macfarlan; two sisters, Pheba Easton of Harrisville and Minnie Allen of Peoria, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Sally Purvis; one son, Dennis; three brothers; two sisters, and one granddaughter. Services were held Oct. 16 at Macfarlan Community Church with the Rev. Charlene Spaur officiating. Burial was in Nutter Cemetery. Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, was in charge of arrangements. Elsie Mabel Evans Elsie Mabel Evans, 86, of Coolville, died Oct. 17 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Hollie and Nelia Shaver Sheets. She was a member of Hickory Hills Church of Christ of Tuppers Plains. She was retired from the Wood County school system and had formerly been employed by the American Viscose Corporation. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lowell and Donna Thompson of Elizabeth; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ronald Hennen of Coolville; one stepdaughter and husband, Patricia and Tony Mowish of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren, Lee Ann Bernardo of Marietta, Virginia Tugman of Elizabeth, Barry and wife Alice Hennen of Little Hocking, Jeffrey and wife Mary Hennen of Little Hocking, Gregg Hennen of Parkersburg, Eva Marie Thompson of Michigan, Joey Swartz, Mike Swartz and Tony Mowish, all of Parkersburg; and eight great- grandchildren, April Hennen, Joshua Hennen, Shauna Hennen, Tony Hennen, Derek Hennen, Holly Bernardo, Johnny Tugman and Anita Schlicher. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. S. Evans; one brother, Avery Sheets; and one sister, Mildred Stukey. Services were held Oct. 19 at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home with Ronald Hennen and Mike Moore officiating. Burial was in Evergreen South Cemetery. John E. Gohn The Rev. John E. Gohn, 64, died of a heart attack at Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa. He was born on April 27, 1935, in Creighton, Pa., a son of Albert and Rose Marie Lesko Gohn. He had worked for Westinghouse in Monroeville, Pa., as an art director and as a commercial artist. He had worked at CDI Marine in Jacksonville, Fla., and had served as pastor for 15 years. He had been at Calvary Baptist Church of Hubbard from 1989 to 1995. He had served with the Army and had graduated from the Pittsburgh Art Institute and attended Marietta Bible College. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie J. Young, who he married Nov. 26, 1955; one son, William L. Gohn of Creston; two daughters, Linda Gutberlet of Spartansburg, Pa., and Melissa L. Walton, with whom he made his home; one brother, Andrew Gohn; three stepsisters, Joann Starchick, Audrey Monamuria, Vonnie Palmaday, all of Pennsylvania; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Gohn; and one sister, Helen Romanack. Funeral services Were Oct. 15 at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home. M. Edith Roush M. Edith Roush, 89, of Lakeview Drive, Parkersburg, died Oct. 15 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Creston. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the "Win One Class." She was a 1928 Parkersburg High School graduate and was a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Paul L. Roush Jr. of Belpre; one daughter, Carolyn Ann Scott of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, John S. Roush of Parkersburg, Jennifer Antes of Hudson, Ohio, Sarah Bento of Toledo, J. Thomas Scott of Roanoke, Va., and Julia Scott of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and 10 great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gay and Lelia Blaine Johnson McCutcheon; her husband, Paul L. Roush Sr.; one brother, Clyde M. McCutcheon; and one sister, Ina Ruth McCutcheon. Services were held Oct. 18 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Casey Stinespring officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
