There is the following: J W Shaver 22 VA Farmer Mariah 22 VA Viola 5/12 VA I don't know if that is your Jacob. There is only one "Shafer" on the 1870 Census, a John Shafer age 27 born in PRU (I think that is Prussia). He is living alone. I could not find any Shafers on the 1850 Census of Wirt County, (W)VA.
