    3. Wirt County Journal September 4, 2002 Obituaries Ethel Kemp Maze Ethel Kemp Maze, 97, Belpre, died Aug. 28, 2002, at Camden Clark Hospital in Parkersburg. She was born June 7, 1905, in Wirt County the daughter of the late Richard and Eddie Wilson Kemp. She worked for Vera's Restaurant, the Belpre Greenhouse and had done housework for families. She had also worked for WPA sewing and in the school kitchen. Survivors include a son, Lawrence Maze of Vincent; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Marie) Sargent of Alfred, O., Mrs. Raymond (Nancy Jean) Brown of Belpre, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Fred (Betty Jo) Woollard of Waterford and a daughter-in-law, Willena Maze of Belpre; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Maze, in 1987; a son, Robert L. Maze; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter; two brothers; and three sisters. Services were held Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Belpre Church of Christ with Ron Laughery officiating. Burial followed in the Coolville Cemetery. Ruby Mowery Ruby Garnette Mowery, 90, of Canton, O., died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, in Ohio. Garnette was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Curtin, Nicholas County. She was the daughter of the late Fred H. and Grace Griffith Bennett. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Creston. She is survived by one sister, Eula Winston of East Sparta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Noah E. Mowery; one sister, Lorena Headley of Creston: four brothers, Raymond C. Bennett of Nutters Fork, Ola F. Bennett of Barberton, O., Coye Bennett of Cooksville, Tenn. and Corporal Othel B. Bennett of World War II, U.S. Army, in 1944. Private services for the family were held Friday, Aug. 30, at the McCray Cemetery in Creston.
