Roberts Warehouse One of Elizabeth's most destructive fires in half a century last Thursday afternoon completely destroyed the Glen W. Roberts warehouse on the old Railroad Right-of-Way. The loss is estimated to be $50,000 as the metal siding building and a big variety of oil field equipment and supplies were wiped out. The blaze was discovered by Roberts and a friend, Bruce Prather about 2:15 p.m. The two men were sitting in a lawn area nearby for more than an hour when Glen suddenly saw billowing clouds of black smoke. Elderly residents say that the blaze was more destructive than the fires between 1908 and 1912 when the old court house was burned.
