Hi Everyone, With the help of Molly Ball Stoddard, and the foot work of my father (Gary). We have created a listing for the Ball Cemetery, about 2 miles up Tucker's Creek from Elizabeth. The Ball Cemetery is a very pretty and well kept ground. I wish the pictures were taken in the spring. The Ball family members were important early settlers to the Tucker's Creek hollow just up from Elizabeth. They came to the area with the Bennett and Steele families during the War of 1812. This family built a school and provided education to themselves and neighboring families. They were also members of the first church (Methodist) organized on Tucker's Creek by Reverend Francis Gutherie. The Ball Cemetery has many names of early Wirt County, all related to the original settlers. These names are: Ball, Barnes, Bennett, Berry, Boone, Deem, Eaton, Gates, Mercer, Milstead, and Roberts. The direct link to the listing is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~garfield/cemetery/ball.htm. Note that everything from "http" to "htm" must be on the address line. You can also link through http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~garfield/. Click on "Here are some listings of cemeteries in the Wirt County Area." Click on "Ball Cemetery, Tucker's Creek, Wirt County." Note that most all of the names are links to pictures of the gravestone. The picture will appear in a new window (usually). Be sure to let Molly know what you think, and let me know if something is broke. Thanks Mark
