Phyllis, Is it possible that you are descended from John DYE who died in Wood County about 1827. John was the stepfather of my ggg grandfather William CAZIER. His father, James CAZIER Jr., died in Prince William County in 1794, the year James was born. His mother, Betsy (CAHOE) CAZIER remarried to a John Dye. I suspect that Betsy & John's marriage occurred in Prince William or a nearby county and they moved to Wood County some time before 1810. (Wirth county formed from part of Wood county after 1820). John shows up in the 1810 census & the 1811 county tax list. They lived near "Elizabethtown", which I suspect is the present day Elizabeth, WV. That would have put them in the part of Wood County that became Wirth County. Any help you can give me on the Dye family would be appreciated.
