    3. Wirt County Journal May 29, 2002 Remember When . . . * From the pages of the Journal June 19, 1925 C.T.H. Cain, a good citizen of near Freeport, Clay District, was a business visitor in Elizabeth on Thursday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Simon Robinson, daughter Marjorie and son Roy, of near Burning Springs, were pleasant callers at the Journal Office on Thursday of last week while in town on business. Hamilton Cline, a good farmer and citizen of Route 3, paid the Journal Office a pleasant call the latter part of last week while in town on business. Mr. and Mrs. S.F. Smith, of near Burning Springs, returned last Thursday from a trip to Columbus. They made the trip by automobile and were accompanied by Burton McCrosky and a young lad of their community. Fayette Somerville of Slate, a former Wirt Countian, was greeting friends and looking after matters of business here the latter part of last week. Harry Orton, progressive farmer and citizen of near Creston, paid the Journal Office a pleasant call on Friday while here on business. Mrs. S.E. Matson returned Friday evening of last week from Clarksburg where she spent several days visiting her daughters, Mrs. Peyton Reid and Mrs. Eddie Dawson and her son, Remmie Matson. She was accompanied on her return by Miss Lattie Valentine of Oil Rock. Thomas Long, a good farmer and citizen of near Dulin, was a business visitor in Elizabeth on Saturday. Roy I. Douglas, progressive farmer of Cherry, transacted business in Elizabeth the latter part of last week. F.D. Ferree, of Rock Run and son, Robert of Mansfield, Ohio, were visitors in Elizabeth Saturday. Mrs. S.F. Bumgarner, of Parkersburg, a former Wirt County lady, spent the week end in the Pisgah community on Right Reedy, her former home and visited friends and relatives in Elizabeth on her return Sunday evening and Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ott good folks of the Windy section, were visitors in town on Monday morning. Ray Wilson, of Lock 5, visited relatives here on Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Ray and son Howard and daughter Kathleen, returned Monday evening from a few days visit in Raleigh, Monroe and other southeastern sections of the state. Chas. R. Sims, progressive young farmer of Sergeant's Run, was a visitor in town on Monday. Mrs. Burdette was the former Miss Emmalee Somerville. They have a daughter, Yvonne Elaine, age 5 1/2. Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Nemeth of Mentor, Ohio, on Sunday, May 13, 1962, a 7 lb. 4 oz. baby girl they named Debra Sue. Mrs. Nemeth was the former Patricia Boyce. They have a son, John Jr. Still a Fuss On Recount Lawyers for the Wirt County Court and Board of Education were in Charleston again Tuesday still at odds over the vote recount of the School Bond and Levy Election of last December. Tuesday's appearance before the Supreme Court was for the County Court to answer a petition of the Board of Education for a writ of mandamus to compel the recount prior to June 11.
