Wirt County Journal October 2, 2002 Obituaries E. Bakley Bell E. Bakley "Bake" Bell, 81, formerly of Stella St., Parkersburg, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at the Sunbridge Care Center. Mr. Bell was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Wirt County, the son of the late James W. Bell and Lelia Ruble Bell Fought. He was an electrician, a 55-year member of Local 968, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he served as president for 10 years, a 50 year member of Burning Springs Lodge 132, AF&AM, a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite and a long time member of Mt. State Sportsman Association. He is survived by a son, John O. Bell and his wife, Dorothy of Palestine; two daughters, Sherry Deskins and her husband, Michael of Washington and Crystal Cox and her husband Edwin of Knightdale, N.C.; three brothers, Jefferson Bell and Harold Bell, both of Parkersburg and Torrence Bell of Walker; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Marian McKee Bell in 1986; a daughter, Dorinda Jane Bell, a brother, Louis S. Bell and a granddaughter, April Williams. Services were held Monday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Newsome officiating. Masonic graveside services followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Georgia Bowers Georgia Chessie "Jo" Bowers, 87, of Elizabeth, passed away Sept. 26, 2002, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility in Parkersburg. She was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Manuel and Effie Clark Bowers. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved her family. She is survived by two half sisters, Opal Boggs of Mogadore, Ohio and Bessie Bowers of Spencer and several nieces and nephews, including William and Eleanor Bumgarner of Slate, Bill and Pat Bowers of Vienna, Patsy B. Bowers of Creston, Effie Fern and Jim Dickle of Parkersburg and Cloyd and Becky Wallbrown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Guy, Gay, Frank, Walter and Russell Bowers; one sister, Cassie Wallbrown; and a nephew, Manny Bowers. Services were held Sunday, Sept 29, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home with Charles O. Gibbs officiating. Interment followed at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Marilyn Ruble Forsythe Marilyn Ruble Forsythe, 77, passed away Sept. 14, 2002. Mrs. Forsythe was born on July 19, 1925, in Elizabeth. She was a long time resident of the Portage Lakes area in Akron, O. She was a real estate agent until her retirement. She attended Riverside Alliance Church in Akron. She was a graduate from Wirt County High School with the class of 1943. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Forsythe of Columbus, O.; her sisters, Ruth Farson of Akron and Mildred Mason of Ravenna; and her brothers, Larry Ruble of Dunnellon, Fla., and Jim Ruble of Palestine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Ruble, and one brother, Cecil. Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Hopkins Lawyer Funeral Home in Akron with the Rev. Don Carr officiating. Interment was at Hillside Memorial Park. If desired, since Marilyn was a breast cancer survivor, contributions may be made to the breast cancer research in her memory.
