Wirt County Journal October 23, 2002 Obituaries Carolyn Sue Bossie Carolyn Sue Bossie, 35, of St. Albans, W. Va., died Oct. 7, 2002, at her residence. She was very active with her son's school, Weimer Elementary, St. Albans, where she served as treasurer of the PTO. She also had been active with helping her husband coach Jeremy's Little League team, acting as "Team Mom." She is survived by her husband, John; son, Jeremy; mother, Wanda Osborne of St. Albans; mother-in-law, Doris Bossie of Charleston; sister, Brenda Hendricks of Sissonville; brother, Terry Goff of Cross Lanes; three nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Wayne Goff; grandparents, William and Edna Gay Goff of Two Ripple. Services were held Thursday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at Bartlett, Burdette, Cox Funeral Home in Charleston with pastor Johnie F. Winnell Jr. officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston. Richard R. Ice Richard R. Ice, 73, of Elizabeth, died Oct. 17, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley Waters Ice; two sons, Church Ice of Elizabeth and Richard W. Ice of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Karen Bell and Brenda Fugett of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, Harold Ice of Parkersburg; and two sisters, Mary Radcliff of Parkersburg and Virginia Cale of Elizabeth. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Matheny-Pomroy Funeral Home. Burial was in Evergreen North Cemetery in Parkersburg. William Raymond McFee William Raymond McFee, age 88, of Palm Coast, Fla., and formerly of Elizabeth, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002. He was born May 27, 1914, in Wirt County, the son of the late William Floyd and Myrtle Eva Evans McFee. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard (Merchant Marine) and made 34 crossings of the Atlantic during World War II. He was retired from DuPont after 21 years of service and Ford Motor Company after 12 years of service. He was a member of The American Legion, Post 217 of Wyandotte, MI. He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Antonina "Lena" McFee of Palm Coast; his loving son, Raymond Albert (Jeanne) McFee of Columbus, O., and his loving daughter, Phyllis (Bill) McFee Eccard of Canal Winchester, O.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step-children, Patricia (Danny) Sando of California, Charles (Barbara) Byrd of Texas, Rose (Larry) McNew of Michigan, David Byrd of Florida, John Byrd of Florida and Kathleen Byrd of Texas; 13 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. McFee is the last surviving member of the Floyd McFee family. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Oda Pearl Collins McFee; three sisters; and five brothers, including his twin brother Wilbur Ray McFee. Caring cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. at South Parkersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kermit William Poling officiating. A monument in his memory is displayed at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Elizabeth. Irene W. Nutter Irene W. Nutter, 84, formerly of Parkersburg, died Oct. 14, 2002, at the Morrison House Hospice, Zanesville, O. She was born in Wirt County, a daughter of the late William and Fannie Nutter Weaver. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for more than 50 years, where she served as a devout Christian, attending 31 of 32 camp meetings in Florida. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Carl S. Nutter; two daughters, Lulu Belle Smith of Zanesville and Betty Wright of New Concord, O.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friends who will want to say, "Irene was one of the best." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Carl Richard Nutter; three brothers, Ray, Okey and Shannon and two sisters, Lela Baker and Georgie Henke. Services were held Thursday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Ethel Elodene Rose Prather Ethel Elodene Rose Prather, 70, of St. Albans, W. Va., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in Charleston following an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Prather was born April 27, 1932, at Industry, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Archie Jefferson and Dora Bell Rose. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working with flowers. She will be missed by her husband of 54 years, Bernard Prather; four sons, Stanley B. Prather of Nitro, Kenneth M. Prather of Scott Depot, Donald G. Prather of Houston, Texas, and Jeffrey B. Prather of Belle; three daughters, Nancy K. Cartwright and Sandra J. Prather, both of St. Albans, and Tammy S. Pauley of Nitro; two brothers, Archie (Junior) Rose and Alfred (Buck) Rose, both of Munday; one sister, Edith Mills of Brohard; 12 grandchildren, Christopher and Carrie Cartwright of St Albans, Gregory Cartwright of Hurricane, Amanda and Tara Pauley of Nitro, Nicholas and Jeffrey Prather of Scott Depot, Douglas Prather of Belle, Jennifer and Lauren Jenkins of Belle, Emily Prather of Houston and Alex Goodnight of Macfarlan; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Blake and Gwyneth. She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Rose in 1934. Services were held Friday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at Busch Funeral Home with Evangelist Eugene L. Conger officiating. Burial followed in the Belt Cemetery at Industry.
