TO: The thoughtful person who takes time to type the Wirt Co Journal's obits and send them by e-mail to us, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! I really appreciate YOU!! This last time, you included the obit of Johnnie CRISS, a man from my CRISS line. This info helped so much to fill in blanks, so just wanted to let you know that I compliment you and am thankful for you. Over a month ago, I wrote to the editor of the Journal asking for help in locating a newspaper story about the STEVENS family fire tragedies in Elizabeth and Creston, but so far I've not had an answer. My great grandparents, Henry Oliver STEVENS & Arthelia Alice CRISS were residents of both towns for many years, reared their children and are buried there. They lost two sons in a hotel fire and another son, who was mute and an invalid, in a home fire. I'd love to learn more about these tragic events. The first was about March 1917 in Creston and the home fire at Elizabeth was 1 May 1932. Any details are welcome....small or large!! Thanks again, Patti
