    3. My uncle who served in WW I had been gassed and I remember his lungs were scarred and he had lots of lung problems. He still lived till the 1970's but suffered all types of breathing illnesses He still managed to farm and other things, but winters were very hard on him. I don't remember what types of gases there are but I do remember reading that the Germans gassed many of the soldiers in the trenches they built in France.
