    3. Wirt County Journal September 29, 1999 Remember When ... * From the Wirt County Journal files April 22, 1921 Farm Bureau Notes A cow testing association has been organized recently in Wood County. Any Wirt County dairyman can join it. Anybody interested can communicate with me. We had a lively debate at Hickory Grove last Tuesday evening relating to farmers asking cash for produce instead of due bills when there is a balance left on produce. It was stated that poultry could be produced profitably but many farmers did not realize more because they could not get money on their eggs. It was held unfair that merchants got cash for the eggs and demanded that farmers deal out the price of the produce and thus giving him a chance to make on both produce and goods. The farmer said that this discouraged production instead of encouraging it. Quite a few circulars on culling poultry were sent out this week. Look them over and keep them until the culling season. We plan to heave an extension culling campaign this fall. The Wool Growers Association met Saturday, April 9. The same officers were held over for this year. The selling committee was given authority to sell with the State Federation of Farm Bureau if they deemed it advisable.
