Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CFC.2ACI/971 Message Board Post: Mrs. Myrtle Givens of Bridgeport Dies Mrs. Leota Myrtle Givens, age 91, of 518 Lawman Ave., Bridgeport, W.Va., died at her home Sunday, April 19, 1981. She was born at Palestine, Wirt County, January 21, 1890, a daughter of the late Otis V. and Isaphine Williamson Morehead. Mrs. Givens was a good Christian woman, a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clarksburg. She remained very active and mentally alert through her advanced years, and had taken up piecing quilts, doing seven last year when she was 90, which were described as perfect. She and her late husband, O.J. Givens, resided at various places in Wirt County – Flint Run, Buffalo, Right Reedy, Standing Stone – while he was engaged in farming. Later he took up the ministry and their residence was in North-Central West Virginia. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Givens of Salem, and Elden Givens of Bridgeport; three daughters, Virginia Bernard of Bridgeport, Mrs. Ernest (Mary Alice) Cox of Salem, and Dale Givens, Phoenix, Ariz; two brothers, Homer Morehead of Amesville, O., and Edward Morehead of McMechen; four sisters, Laura Lockhart and Della Taylor of Mineral Wells, Ora Taylor or Parkersburg, and Dorcas Turner of Rt. 1, Palestine; 16 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg. Interment was in the Salem IOOF Cemetery.
