    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CFC.2ACI/961 Message Board Post: Mathew Williams, b. 1830 in Wirt Co.,; Possible parents: Levi Williams, b ?1805, Virginia; Mary Souder. Mathew is found on the 1870 census for Wirt, with his wife Elizabeth Luther and all of their children. He is next household to M.A. Williams with child Alpha. I'm thinking they are related somehow as they are next door to each other. Also Mathew was married in Gallatin Co., Illinois, so I think he returned to Wirt for some reason for a short period of time. This is a big mystery to me, so any help or ideas are appreciated.

    1. Nancy and Thomas King
    2. Millie
    3. Was Thomas King related to Jane and Lawrence King who were living in Wood/Wirt County before 1810? According to the 1830 and 1840 Wood County Census, Thomas was born between 1800 and 1810. A Thomas B. King appears in the Wirt County Plat Book #1 in 1850 and owned land on Lynn Camp Run (near Palestine, WV). According to Wirt County marriage records, Nancy and Thomas King were the parents of Ellen King (b. ca 1826) and Eliza King (b. 1835-1838). Many thanks. Millie

    3. I am trying to find an obituary of my gr gr grandfather Lewis Plate, buried in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Elizabeth, West Virginia. His tombstone gives a death date of Dec 6, 1892. A bio of a son (Ralston or Rolston) said that Lewis owned timberland and had sawmills in the area and he died as a result of an accident at one of the sawmills but the bio gave a death date of Dec 4, 1893. Are Thomas and Joseph descendents of Jane and Lawrence King who were living in Wood / Wirt County before 1810? Lawrence and Jane were charter members of the Baptist Church in Palestine when it was founded in 1816. Did any of Lawrence King's children stay in the Wirt County area after he moved to Athens Co., OH in the 1820s? Millie

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CFC.2ACI/957 Message Board Post: My husband, a WV boy, purchased some glass-plate negatives of family photos in 1974 at a yard sale in Palestine. He's never going to do anything with them (I'm not sure what he had in mind anyway) and as a genealogist, I'd like to see them get back to the family if possible. There are probably about 30 plates. The women's hairstyles are mostly "bobbed" so I'd say they were taken around the 1920's. Included are portraits of adults and children, a large extended family group, a wedding portrait, a picture of the farmhouse (which might be identifiable) and some camping trip shots. The photos are not professional in quality, so I suspect that a member of the family was the photographer. If you have a parent or grandparent who died in 1974 or went to the nursing home that year, lived in Palestine, and was into photography, these pictures might be yours. I can scan a few of them to e-mail to you for identification. If I can't find a family member who wants them, I would be happy to donate them to a museum or archive in the Palestine area. But it would be nice to identify the people.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CFC.2ACI/625.2 Message Board Post: Hello: I have just read your message about Joel and Mary Ann Williams. I am interested as to what you found - I have found a Mary A. Williams in the 1850 census from Wirt, VA, showing her 50 yrs with Abraham, Rebecca, Mariah, Lavina and Alpha. Then in 1870 census, a M. A. Williams, 74 yrs, with an Alpha in her household as 21 yrs. On the census list, they are right below my ggrandfather Mathew Williams and his wife Elizabeth, so I am thinking they are related or together. My ggrandfather is listed in familysearch as Mathew Williams and wife Elizabeth Luther, of which I am 100% sure. However, per Worldconnect, Mathew is shown as born in Wirt, with father as Levi Williams and Mary Souder., showing Levi born 1800-1810. Have you found any additional info on this Mary A. Williams? thank you Juliana Black and

    3. Elizabeth was born October 15, 1873 and died February 3, 1950 in Bradford and is buried in St. Bernards cemetery there with her husband. She was the daughter of Samuel Henry and Mary Ann Cain Curfman. I have your grandfather, Earl and his brothers and spouses, but no further.
