The Wirt County 1860 census has "free" census microfilm images in the USGenWeb Archives. An index was transcribed with each name linking to the appropriate microfilm image. http://www.us-census.org/image-index/wv/wirt/1860/index.htm If you find any transcribed names of your Wirt County ancestors in the 1860 index that have typing errors, let me know the details and I'll check and fix the index if it is incorrect. I grew up living next to Dayton and my little sister was always very close to him, but no one really knew anything about him. I do know that he was never married. He always talked about a girlfriend that he had when he was young, but that when she was 16 I believe, she was burned in a house, so he never married or dated anyone else. He lived on a farm in Roane Co. with a couple. Their names were Shirley and Lora Nida. Both of whom are now deceased. Dayton also died in November of 1985 I believe and is buried at the Looney Cemetery at Walton, WV. I would be greatful if you or anyone else could help me with this. Genette Springston

No luck. I also check the Wirt Co. Census (1850, 60, 70) and on-line 1880 for any reference to them. No luck. No reference to them in the Wirt and Roane Co. Deaths and the same -- no luck. It doesn't mean they weren't married in Wirt, just no reference in the books. Sorry, Dick W.

It is wonderful to be in contact with others of the family. I would love to exchange information on the descendants, though I have just started on this family. It is for a friend - she is the gr gr granddaughter of Henry S. Lee. I believe that her 3rd gr grandfather is Thomas Nathan Lee, 1845-1910, buried in Two Run Cemetery in Wirt Co. Is that correct? I look forward to talking with you and exchanging what little I have learned so far. Also learning what has been done already and discovering what I can do in the future which will help you and the other researchers. I won't be going to Salt Lake City until March, but I can always order in films in the meantime - just don't want to redo research which has been already done. I live in California so I can't "just drop in". Thanks again, Cathy
