Cathy: Here is a copy of Eva Lowe's obituary. The Parkersburg News, Tuesday, 10 September 1985 Lowe, Eva L. ELIZABETH - Eva L. Lowe, 91, of Route 1, Palestine, died Monday morning at her home following a sudden illness. She is survived by two sons, William Lowe of Pennsylvania and Glen Lowe of Warren, Ohio; one daughter, Esta Reed of Warren, Ohio; two brothers, Artie Walker of Craigsville, W.Va., and Virgil Walker of Indiana; one sister, Phela Bookhart of Cleveland, Ohio; several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wickley B. Lowe, three sons, two daughters, four brothers and three sisters. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mayberry "New Home" Church with the Rev. Dean Archer officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Matheny-Pomroy Funeral Home after noon today and at the church one hour prior to services. Paul

I am not a Roberts family searcher. I came across this in my searches. Due to the 'small' size of Wirt County, I was finding it useful to collect information as various surnames kept popping up. Supposedly this Mary Roberts was born Ritchie County and she married Harvey Mathess in 1921 in Wirt County. The 1850 and 1860 Wirt Co. censuses (Cochran) show an Amos Roberts b. abt 1798 with wife Sina b. abt 1801, with Jackson, Irvin J., Francis Marion, Harriet, Sina Jane, William and Julia A. H. Michael McTeer
Could this Nancy J. Mathes Lockhart be one and the same Nancy Jane Mathers married to Columbus Lockhart??? I have been searching anything on her. She would be my greatgreat grandmother. I have her born in Monroe County, Ohio in 1851.
Am interested in info on Amos and Carrie Roberts, mentioned below in posting of April 7th. Wonder who the Mary is that "would be the d/o Amos and Carrie Roberts." Did she have a sister, Permelia Ann Roberts, who married George Maze? Alza Huffman mentions an Amos and (wife...Bambridge) Roberts in her book... " ...All of this happened near Morgantown, West Virginia, as my great-grandmother was born there. Her maiden name was Bambridge, and she married Amos Roberts who also lived near Morgantown. They came to Wirt County and took a land grant and were the parents of ten children. Most of them settled in Wirt County." If the Carrie Roberts mentioned below is my g-g-g-g-grandmother, then according to my great-aunt's book, she was born in 1782, ..."we really had a distinguised visitor in the year 1878 when my great-grandmother, aged ninety-six, rode ten miles on horseback over rough wilderness roads to visit us."
