He re-enlisted in 1864 and evidently was wounded or got sick and was sent to a hospital in Fredrick City, Maryland. According to his Muster-out Roll, Charles was discharged May 13,1865. The only other time that I found Charles was on the 1870 West Virginia Census. He is listed as C.L. Montanden, Wirt Co., W.V, pg 241, Burning Springs Township. I've been trying to find out about J. W. Bumgardner b. abt.1840/Wood Co., WV. It seems that he may have married two CRISS woman. Sarah M. Criss and Rosanne Criss-Kidd. Roseanne is the daughter of My Great Grandparents, William Criss b. 1818/OH and Elizabeth ? b.1829/OH. Roseanne is also sister to my Grandfather, John Criss b. 1872/Wirt Co., WV. I found Roseanne (listed as Anna) on the 1870 Wood Co., WV census report with her parents. William and Elizabeth list a child named Sarah on this 1870 census but her age is 6. I can't find any earlier information on the Criss family in OH or WV/VA. Finding an earlier census would sure help. There has to be a glitch here somewhere. I also believe that A Sallie Criss/Wirt or Wood Co., ties into the Bumgardner line someplace. I sure would like to find some Bumgardner cousins if possible. Does anyone know if J.W.
