    1. [WVWETZEL] TALLMAN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Olive TALLMAN which was taken when she was 14 years old and sent to her Mother, Mrs. P. A. TALLMAN in Tariff, West Virginia on the back of a postcard. The photograph was taken along with a group of young men and women as notes "Dear Mama, I am sending you my picture. All these go to school but two." signed Olive. An "X" on the photograph indicates which one is Olive. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Olive and her family: Olive TALLMAN was b. 24 or 27 Apr 1894 in Roane Co., WV to parents Peter A. TALLMAN (1856-1931) and Martha Josephine FERRELL (1860-1923). Olive was one of 11 children born to this couple including, Eliza Myrtle; William Smith; Orva or Orvia or Orvie; George G.; Clay Spencer; Olive; Clyde W.; Franklin Pascal; Brooks Bryan; Charles Cameron "Trusty"; Frank Pierce; and Boles TALLMAN, all born between 1880 and 1902. Olive married Guy G. DOWDY (1889-1980) in 1916 in Wood, WV and together they had 2 children including a son, Charles Tallman DOWDY (1920-2007). Olive died 1 Aug 1978 in Columbus, OH. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Smithfield, WV: Peter A. TALLMAN, age 44, born Feb 1856, married 20 years, born WV, parents born WV, a Farmer Martha J. TALLMAN, wife, age 40, born May 1860, 9 children/7 living, born WV, parents born VA Orvie TALLMAN, dau, age 14, born Dec 1885, born WV George TALLMAN, son, age 12, born Jan 1888, born WV Clay TALLMAN, son, age 10, born Feb 1890, born WV Clyde TALLMAN, son, age 8, born Apr 1892, born WV Olive TALLMAN, dau, age 6, born May 1894, born WV Brooks TALLMAN, son, age 3, born Jul 1896, born WV Boles TALLMAN, son, age 8 months, born Sept 1899, born WV 1910 census of Smithfield, WV: Peter A. TALLMAN, son, age 10, born WV Frank TALLMAN, son, age 7, born WV 1930 census of Columbus, OH: Guy DOWDY, age 40, married at age 26, born WV, parents born WV, a University Teacher Olive DOWDY, wife, age 35, married at age 22, born WV, parents born WV Charles DOWDY, son, age 9, born OH Virginia DOWDY, dau, age 7, born OH 1940 census of Upper Arlington, OH: Guy DOWDY, age 50, born WV, an Agricultural Teacher at State University Olive T.
