    3. Hi List, In honor of Mother's Day, I want to tell you about a woman that I never had the pleasure of meeting. She died about 36 years before I was born. Her name was FLORENCE WRIGHT. She was born around 1901 in Webster County, West Virginia to Martin Van Buren Wright and Mahala Trader. She married ALDEN O. WALKER on 1 Apr 1917 in Webster County. On 20 Jun 1918, she gave birth to a daughter, Beulah Irene Walker. About 2 years later, she gave birth to another daughter, AnnaLee Walker. Florence died between 1920 and 1925. I believe that it was around 1922. Alden and Florence were living in the community of Dain, WV when she died very suddenly. Florence liked flowers and Alden promised to plant her some in the yard. I think she died before he could fulfill his promise but every spring, up until his death, he planted marigolds. I think they were for her. I recently received a picture of Florence. She was young and thin, delicate looking. She has a sad look but very, very pretty. I think Florence would have been proud of her daughters. They grew up to be good Christian women, with loving families of their own. I don't know where she is buried. I have been unable to locate a death record or a cemetery listing. Alden remarried and from that marriage came my father, Roscoe Walker. So, I guess some could say that I have no direct connection to Florence and I can't explain why I feel so drawn to her. To Florence and all mothers, past and present-----HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! Cathy
