-----Original Message----- From: LCFlu@aol.com <LCFlu@aol.com> Hello, Everyone: Not too long ago, I sent a message to you about my page, The Civil War Medals of WV -- Where Are They? http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/cwmedals.htm Now I have a project about the 12th West Virginia Infantry, Civil War http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/12thcover.htm The Regiment was made up from the counties, as follows: Cos. A, B and C, in Marshall; Co. D, in Ohio County; Cos. E and G, in Harrison; Co. F, in Marion; Co. H, in Taylor; Co. I, in Hancock, and Co. K, in Brooke County. I put the 1892 book about the 12th, by William Hewitt, online a few days ago and I have already received nearly 100 messages from people with information about the soldiers of the 12th. The objective is to make this a comprehensive history/genealogy of the 12th Regiment. I hope to get pension/military records, photos, bios, genealogy files, etc. about all of the 1000+ soldiers. I uploaded 100 new files yesterday, related to this page, so I am off to a good start. They are about ALL of West Virginia and beyond, not just the 4 WV counties I do genealogy pages for. For example, I recently added a booklet, HISTORY AND LIFE OF JOHN A. BOWEN, to the Medals' page.. It was written by John A. Bowen himself and he was from Huntington, CABELL County. I am told there is a monument of some sort to him in Huntington, although he later moved to Proctorville, OH. Another interesting story is that of ONNIE MITCHELL, still living, whose FATHER, CAGER MITCHELL, of LOGAN COUNTY was in the Civil War. Not common to find a son of a Civil War soldier! Gov . Underwood presented Onnie with his father's medal from the WV State Archives last year. I have the story and photo on the Medals page. Thanks very much for your consideration of my request.
