This cemetery was transcribed by Roger Stanley. Just today i double checked the information by walking the cemetery and with the aid of some water and a soft bristle brush was able to read some of the stones that Roger listed as nearly illegible. I have made a few corrections and this information should be considered an accurate record of the Arcola Cemetery. Located about six miles outside Cowen between Cowen and Erbacon, sits on hill behind the new Arcola Community Church. Land was once owned by John Henry Tyler, a portion of which was donated to the community for erection of a church and school. Many graves are not even marked with fieldstone and it appears that there may be as many unmarked graves as there are with legible markers. Cemetery is well maintained and mowed with a lawnmower.
