Hello, Does anyone out there happen to know if any of these names would be of Cherokee decent? STILTNER, BAXTER, WOODS, or CLEVENGER. The reason I am asking is because my mother had told me that as a little girl that she was always told that one of her grandmother's was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. I would like to somehow try and prove this. I realize this is hard to do, but I will just think about it as another brick wall. Anyone have any good sites for this? Does anyone know where I can look at the Indian's census records via the Internet or any other way for that matter. If there is anyone out there that had tried to prove something like this, and has succeeded in finding the answer whether it be true or false; will you please post your message in how you did it.
