Thanks Lenore. Now I know where I was in April 1931. My father, C.P. Lynch, was born on Grassy Creek, the son of VanLinden and Millie Conrad Lynch, grandson of Adam Gregory and Sarah Arthur Lynch and Jacob Peter and Elizabeth Alkire Conrad. Antecedents include William Arthur, Joseph Friend, John Lynch Sr., Mary Moore, Elizabeth Davisson and Sarah Given among others. He wrote about the Lynch family in " West Virginia and its People" by Miller and Maxwell, 1913. In 1931 he would have visited with Aunt Lou Benedum and with his wife's uncle, James Morrison Gillespie and aunt Mary Skidmore Gillespie. We would have eaten at Ella Gregory's restaurant (she had the restaurant and bus station). We probably went to Cowen to visit Aunt Cena (Mrs. R., F. Pierson). and Uncle Lee Lynch. Aunt Cena's children Louise and Ernest Miller were in Cowen then. My grandfather Vanlinden moved to Buckhannon in the 1890's so his sons could get an education. His brother George followed a few years later. C.P. became interested in gas and oil properties, and later in mining in the west and Mexico. In 1931 my mother returned from Mexico to Buckhannon to enroll my brother and me in school. My father travelled back and forth. I presume F. E. Conrad would be Fletcher E. Conrad, a nephew of Millie Conrad Lynch. Thanks for the clipping Robert Lynch
