    3. Hi everyone, I thought that I would share a small project that I am working on. The Library of Virginia has a lot of land grants online with the card indexes and document images. So, I am working through transcribing the Givens and Gregory land patents. I don't know the genealogical significance of these, but I find these interesting because it shows relationships of the different people. Anyway, if you want more of these, let me know. Transcription - Virginia Land Office Patents and Grants http://image.vtls.com/collections/LO.html John Given Land Office Patents and Grants ~ Grants No.60 1809-1810 Randolph County - 50a - p.488 Date: 10 Feb 1810 Reference: 125_0416, 125_0417 Location: Randolph County Description: (W/ Isaac Duffield) On the head of Beaver and Sand Run, both drains of the Gauley River near the road from Isaac Gregory's to the Fork Lick John Tyler, Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: TO ALL TO WHOM these Presents shall come, GREETING: know ye, That by virtue of a Land Office Treasury warrant Number four thousand one hundred and twenty two, issued the 4th day of December eighteen hundred and four; there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto John Given and Isaac Duffield a certain tract or parcel of land, containing - fifty acres, by survey bearing date the twenty third day of December, eighteen hundred and seven; lying in the county of Randolph, on the head of Beaver and Sand Run both drains of Gauley river, near the road from Isaac Gregory's to the fork lick and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a white oak near the path and with I.D. and J. Given north sixty five degrees West forty poles to a chesnut and chesnut oak; north thirty degrees west thirty two poles to a parcel of chesnuts; north fifteen degrees east thirty eight poles to a maple. North fifty degrees east fifty two poles to a sourwood and maple; South forty five degrees east eighty eight poles to a chesnut and chesnut oak; south thirty degrees west fifty five to a sugar tree and south eighty six west thirty four poles to the beginning; with its appurtenances; to have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said John Given and Isaac Duffield and their heirs forever. In witness whereof, the said John Tyler, Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his Hand, and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the tenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten and of the Commonwealth the thirty fourth. <Jn Tyler>
