    1. [WVWEBSTE] Wainville Jan. 23, 1945 or 1946?
    2. Roger Stanley
    3. From: The Webster Echo. Jan. 23 (1945 or 1946). This copy is taken from microfilm and the year is hard to read. There is a reference on the same page to a death that occurred Jan. 17, 1946; which suggests that this article was written in 1946. NOTE: There appears to be some typos in this article. The Areter Tharp referred to was probably Arther Tharp. Their is a reference to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tharp. I believe this should have been Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weese, who were long time residents of Wainville. WAINVILLE Mrs. Areter Tharp and daughter, Miss Juanita, were business visitors at Sutton, Friday. Ted Morris was transacting business at Webster Springs Wednesday. S/1 Zennis Tharp has received several days extension on his leave. Mrs. Gladys Weese was shoppin in Sutton, Saturday. Miss Eula Sims who works at Cowen, spent the week end visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noble Sims. Mrs. Lona Sanson and daughter of Jerrysville, are visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arter Tharp. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tharp entertained several young folks Saturday night in honor of their son Robert, who leaves Tuesday for the Army. They spent the evening playing games. Delicious refreshments were served to the following guests: Misses Eula, Bulah and Audia Sims, Oma Lee and Olive Moore, Betty Jo Stalnnaker, Mabel and Mary Cunningham, Elanor Giles, Murrell Green, Esther Jean Dodrill, Betty Jean Weese, Mrs. Margaret Wayne and Mrs. Florence Giles. Messers, Jack Cunningham, Eddie Mac Stalnaker, Duane Morris, Russell Moore, Ernest Sims, Harley Hamrick, Clarence Hosey, Veon Lee, Claud Weese, Mack Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Dodrill and sons Ralph, Ray and Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Weese and the honor guest Robert Weese. Everyone reported a very enjoyable evening. Mrs. Ivy Wise and daughter, Mrs. Roby Marple, and son Roy Wise who was recently discharged from the Navy, visited her mother Mrs. Naomi Sims, one day last week. S/1 Kenneth Cunningham has returned to the Navy after spending a 30-day leave here with homefolks. S/1 Fred Lamb has returned home after several months service as an aid on a hospital ship in the Pacific. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Wayne, Bob Weese, Harley Hamrick, and Betty Jean Weese attended the show at Webster Springs Monday night.
