    2. Maxine Virginia Trier, 84, passed away May 29, 2000. She was born in Fairmont, W. Va., and had lived most of her life in the Akron area. Mrs. Trier, a local portrait artist, was preceded in death by husband, Walter (1991); and sister, Delores ``Pat'' Towne. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (Allen) Ramsey; granddaughter and caregiver, Virginia Maxine Ramsey, all of Akron, and eight other grandchildren. A private graveside service and burial has been conducted. (Prentice, 753-7721.) Howard Frederick Brooks Sr., 62, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Fairmont, W. Va., died Sunday, May 28, in Fairmont. He was born Feb. 12, 1938, in Fairmont, the son of the late Joseph and Lorraine Brooks. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Morningstar Baptist Church in Fairmont. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony Clark of Harvey, Ill., Howard Brooks Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Napoleon Brooks of Canton, Ohio, Joseph and Martin Brooks, both of Fairmont, and Lawrence and Kimberly Brooks of Decatur, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine Mack, Florence and Jesse Hawkins, and Judith Brooks, all of Akron, and Charles Yeater of Fairmont; brothers and sister-in-law, James and Sharon Brooks and Lawrence Brooks, all of Akron; 10 grandchildren, and several other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; and brothers, Henry and Samuel. On Saturday, June 3, viewing will begin at 11 a.m., and the funeral service at 1 p.m., at the Morningstar Baptist Church, 100 McKinney St., Fairmont, W. Va., Rev. Wesley Dobbs officiating.
