    2. Charles Herman Kessler passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 4, 2000, after a very long illness. He was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Scarbro, W. Va. He lived in Hico, W. Va., and worked in the surrounding area as a coal miner until 1955, when he moved to Akron. He worked at the Borden Milk Co. and later at the Reiter Dairy, retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Teamsters Local 348. Herm was a longtime member of the Akron Baptist Temple and enjoyed many activities with the Golden Agers during his early retirement years. Everyone who knew him will forever remember his smile. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edith. He also leaves his sons, Raymond (Merrillie) of Canal Fulton and Charles (Jane) of Manchester; daughter, Barbara (Mike) of Atwater; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold, Vincent, and John; and sisters, Joan and June. Funeral service will be at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Wednesday, June 7, at 1 p.m., where friends may call one hour prior to the service, Rev. Bill Lee officiating.
