    3. Re Leander: I have run across Leander as a given name for boys, including a son of my Bartletts who came from England to Maryland and then to Little Hocking in Washington Co., Ohio. Don't know why they chose it, but Leander was a hero in a Greek legend. They also gave another son the middle name of Augustus, a Roman name. Maybe classical names were in style in the early 1800s? Who knows? My folks got my name from a movie!
