    1. [WVWEBSTE] A grave mistake....
    2. Andrew Cottrell
    3. Hello all, For those of you who are not part of my ill-fated attempt to publish a Hamrick newsletter in the past few years, you can ignore this e-mail. But for those of you who have been subscribers, this is directed at you. First of all, I must apologize. I promised something I thought I could deliver, but I failed miserably. It was not my intent to solicit money for a newsletter and then not deliver. I have had a history of wild dreams and aspirations, but as with most dreamers, that is where most of my ideas stay, as dreams. Some of my dreams have come to fruition, such as the Pioneer Preservation Fund. I did make the first few calls after my visit to the Hamrick Reunion in 1995 to get a fund started, but since then I have not had any direct involvement in the organization. My mother, Dan Hamrick, Sharon Hamrick, and others (sorry if I forget any names) have put hours upon hours into keeping this dream alive for all of us. I don't want your thoughts towards me to also be connected to this wonderful organization. Now, getting to the second point of this e-mail. I have been attempting to go through my records so I could send refund checks to every person who subscribed and didn't receive their 12 issues. If you were a subscriber, and you did not receive 12 issues, please send me an e-mail with the number of issues you did not receive and your current mailing address and I will send you a check within the next week. There were several people who have sent me checks, but I never cashed them. For those people, please make sure I cashed the check. Again, I apologize for my unthoughtful actions. I took over a project from Charles Hamrick that I thought I could accomplish, but school and college was too demanding for me to be able to publish the newsletter I would have liked to. Thank you and I hope you can forgive me. 1. [WVWEBSTE] Carter - Stiltner Connection plus others.
    2. Faith Blount
    3. Dear Lists, Sorry if you get a repeated message due to subscribing to several lists, as I do. I thought I had seen on a list a long time ago, that the names Carter and Stiltner were used as one in the same as last names. Depending on what last name the person wanted to use. Something to that effect. Can anyone verify the relationship of the two names and maybe where each originated? For example: My gggrandfather was Milbourn Jackson Stiltner. His daughter Pricy(My ggrandmother) was recognized in an obit as a survivor of relation as Pricy Carter. I have not found any information confirming the Carter relationship to her. I am pretty positive she was only married to my ggrandfather Lee Anderson Arthur. Her mother was Martha Woods. Could Carter have come from that side. What I was told before was something to the fact that Some used the Stiltner name and some used the Carter name. Milbourn Jackson Stiltner was born somewhere in VA. and Martha Woods was born somewhere in KY. I'm not sure where Pricy was born. I was told recently that Lee was born possibly in ! Lewis County, WV. (Or VA) His mother Mary Margaret Arthur was born in Bath Co., VA. I have no record of her ever being married. My ggrandfather was half Indian. The picture I have recently seen pretty much proves that due to his complexion and other features. At the time he was born though there were several tribes in the area. Any suggestion regarding any of the above mentioned names will be greatly appreciated!!! Anything even if you don't think it is important might help in my search. Thank you in advance! Faith To e-mail me directly: blount@digital.net Surnames I am searching: ARTHUR, STILTNER, CARTER, WOODS, CARPENTER, CLEVENGER, FRIEND, BAXTER, DAVISSON, BLOUNT, SPINLER, GLASSBURN and some others off my tree branches.

    3. Dawna, I don't know which names Mr. Cowger has, so just go ahead and send what you have to him. If it is a duplicate he will know. This memorial goes back to WW1 (so the Echo said). Be sure you send some sort of proof the person served in one of the wars (discharge papers, etc.) If you or anyone has further questions I'll try to answer them. Linda
