    1. Lewis M. Walker of West Virginia
    2. Dennis Brubaker
    3. Hi, I'm getting nowhere with this line. Thought maybe someone new would have something--ANYTHING! 1 Lewis M. Walker b. 1862 Greenbrier Co d. unknown (possibly in Webster Co) 1st m. Minnie A. McCoy/McAvoy b. 1868 Nicholas Co, WV d. 1900 Nicholas Co 2 Robert Ivan Walker b. 1892 Nicholas Co d. unknown 1st m. Lucinda Given 2nd m. Esta Christian 2 Coy L. Walker b. 1894 Nicholas Co d. unknown 2 Alden Oscar Walker b. 1896 Nicholas Co d. 1965 Kanawha Co 1st m. Florence Wright 2nd m. Sylvia Opal Bowen 2 Villeria Walker b. 1900 Webster Co d. 1900 Webster Co 2nd m. Luverna Unknown 2 Artie Walker b. 1902 Webster Co d. unknown 2 Taylor Walker b. 1904 Webster Co d. unknown 2 Virgil Walker b. 1906 Webster Co d. unknown 2 Falla Walker b. 1908 ??? 2 Mary Walker b. 1910 ???? 2 Floyd E. Walker b. 1912 Webster Co d. 1915 Webster Co. Strange things about this family: 1. All of Lewis' children were born in even-numbered years and there is 2 years between each child. The one child that broke this pattern died 2 months after her birth. My daughter thinks that Lewis murdered her. 2. The first three sons were all born in August. 3. Lewis' first wife, Minnie, died in Nicholas County but the death was record in Webster County. Plus, Lewis stated that he did not know the name of her parents. Her death occured only one month after giving birth in Webster County. 4. There is a story in the family that one of Lewis' daughters was kidnapped or ran away from home and never heard from again. I know it wasn't Falla or Mary. 5. Florence Wright, 1st wife of Alden, supposedly was born and died in Webster County but the County Clerk has nothing on her. 6. Alden and Sylvia supposedly lived in Birch River, Nicholas County from 1925 until 1945. But I recently discovered that they lived in Jerryville, Webster County for awhile. I'm sure that to those more experienced will not find these events at all strange. I, however, am starting to wonder about Lewis. He appears to have been a creature of habit and I have to wonder why there were not any children born between 1885, when he married Minnie and 1892, when his first son was born. Keeping with his pattern, there is room for 3 children (1886, 1888, 1890). Could Lewis been away from home during this time? If so, where was he? I'm open to any suggestion. Thanks, Cathy ALL COUNTIES ARE IN WEST VIRGINIA

    1. Re: Minnie Walker: The Mystery Continues
    2. Hi Cathy, Your question: 1. Why does a woman, who gave birth in Webster County on 3 May 1900, travel to Nicholas County to die of consumption a month later? The baby died on unknown causes on 6 July 1900 in Webster County. My guess: Maybe her family lived in Nicholas and they tried to get her medical help? Maybe the father of the baby couldn't take care of the baby himself. This family may have been estranged from her family. Your question: #2. Why was the death recorded in Webster County and not Nicholas County? My guess: Could it have been a border town where they lived? Maybe there was a dispute in which County and Webster was chosen. Your question: #3. Why doesn't her husband know the names of her parents? My guess: He may have been so bereaved that he couldn't think. Or perhaps her parents disowned her for marrying him and he thought they didn't deserve to be named. Remember these are only guesses and life can be very strange at times. It is difficult to know what went on in their hearts and minds. Good luck, Cathy, perhaps others will have a lot of different guesses as to what may have happened. Sharon I Dickson [email protected]

    1. Minnie Walker: The mystery continues
    2. Dennis Brubaker
    3. I got some information from the Webster County Courthouse today and it only adds to the questions I have on Minnie Alodinor McCoy Walker. It states that Minnie died in Nicholas County of Consumption on 2 June 1900. It lists her date of birth as 8 July 1868 and that her parents are unknown. The information was provided by her husband, L. M. Walker. QUESTIONS: #1. Why does a woman, who gave birth in Webster County on 3 May 1900, travel to Nicholas County to die of consumption a month later? The baby died on unknown causes on 6 July 1900 in Webster County. #2. Why was the death recorded in Webster County and not Nicholas County? #3. Why doesn't her husband know the names of her parents? This family is driving me crazy! Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks, Cathy
