I would like to obtain death certificates of my grandfather Homer Lee Keener and my grandmother Elizabeth Jane Jones Keener. I would like to know the County in which they passed away; so that, I might find the cemetery in which they were buried. For some time they lived in Braxton County but neither died there. Homer Lee probably moved the family to another nearby County to work for the B&O railroad. He was killed in an accident while working for the railroad. They both died at a very young age. Homer Lee was born in 1877 and Elizabeth Jane in 1885. Probable dates of death were between the years 1908 and 1915. Thank you for any help you can give me. Jim

Message text written by INTERNET:[email protected] >Hello - would like some input about a new History of Webster County book. 1. Prefer hard or soft cover - (FYI - hard cover is considerably more $$) 2. Would you be willing/have information to submit 3. Would you be interested in prepaying to help get the book started? 4. If you live in the area of Webster would you be willing to assist in gathering information to help enhance the "history" of the book Just wondering - there are lots of people of there who would like to see another book started - from what I understand they are expensive but I think well worth it. Please let me know - THANKS - bj ==== WVWEBSTE Mailing List ==== Contact list coordinator: [email protected] < I would be interested in the soft cover because of the cost. My name is Mary Jane Dodrill, Griffey, Hamrick. I am the daughter of Willard and Esta Dodrill from Point Mountain. Having left Webster in 1966 I married an Ohio man and lived in Ohio until 1981 at which time we moved to Kentucky. Following his death in 1995 I remained in KY until meeting Daniel Hamrick who is originally from Valley Head, WV. He was living in Kansas at the time and we met at the Point Mt. reunion in 96 and were married in October 98. Bought a house in Canton OH and that is where I am now. Finally! I figured out what was happening to the photos that would not load for "Pictures of the Past" - they were too large - I reduced the size of some and it worked! Please check it out and tell me if you find one I missed - sorry for the delay - it's been most irritating trying to figure this out. I finally got it when I was trying to load Portia Hamrick's will - YEAH. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvwebste/pictures.htm bj
The annual Pioneer Family Reunion will be held, as has been traditional for more than a half century, on Point Mountain in Webster County, WV, on Aug. 22, 1999. There will be a difference this year though. On Sunday morning, there will be a dedication of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, established in 1841, as a family research center. The church is on the Bergoo Road one-half mile from its intersection with WV Rt. 15. This reunion was the gathering place in the past of Hamricks, Gregorys, Dodrills, Chapmans, Cogars, Millers, Rigglemans and Mollohans and their friends. In more recent years, it has been carried on by Hamricks and a few Gregorys and Dodrills. This reunion once attracted 5,000 to 10,000 people and has dwindled to a couple hundred. It would be our great hope that we can begin to see it grow instead of decline. Your help and attendance can go a long way toward doing that. I am founder and secretary of a non-profit organization that acquired the Pleasant Grove Church for use as a Pioneer Family History museum and research center. I also happen to be chairman of the reunion this year. We want very much to present a genealogical program in the afternoon that will feature Dodrills and Gregorys, as recent ones have been devoted almost exclusively to Hamricks (even if I are one!). Of course, the truth is that we all are related. We will relay details about the programs as they develop. We publish a newsletter once or twice a year about activities relating to the preservation of family history. The newsletter is free. It does contain a solicitation of funds. But no contriubtion is required to get it. If you would like a copy of this newsletter, usually sent out in May, please send your name, postal address and phone number and we will put you on the list. If you have already been receiving it, you are on the list.
