Hello- I have quite a mystery on my hands, and thought maybe someone out there could help me. We were always told that my grgrandmothers mother burned in a housefire when she was young, and she was raised by an Aunt and Uncle. My grgrandmother was Oma Adkins? b 11/7/1869 according to headstone, 1867 according to marriage cert. All census records leads one to believe that Manville Adkins b 1833 Wayne Co WV, s/o Jacob and Dicy Adkins and wife Lucinda Farley b 1849 Harlan Co Ky, d/o ?? are her parents, but according to their marriage cert. they were married 9/12/1874, several years after she was born. Also the census records show several children for them, but none are on record at the Wayne Co courthouse. It also states in the marriage cert. for Manville and Lucinda that he was 39, she 25 and a widow. She was married to a Frazier 1st??? My grgrandmother married Youngea Frazier 4/24/1891 in Wayne Co WV. She was just 14 and he was 33, which proves family hersay that her uncle made her marry at 14 and she was so afraid. So who is Oma Adkins, is she an Adkins at all? Could she be a Frazier by Lucindas 1st marriage, or a Farley, one of Lucindas brothers children, Or Adkins, one of Manvilles brothers children??????The questions are endless, but I know the answer is out there somewhere.
