Our line is James Kirk Smith, born about 1840 in Virginia, His father was born in Virginia and his mother was born in Maryland. We are trying to find out who his parents and siblings are. James Kirk was in the Civil War and was captured and sent to Prison at Vicksburg, Mississippi, but escaped and came back to Wayne Co. He also had a brother who fought for the south, and was supposed to have been killed at the Battle of Peachtree. James Kirk married Mazie "Emeline" Parsons, Sept 8, 1868 in Lawrence Co, Ohio and lived in Ky. for a short time before moving back to Wayne Co. Emeline was the daughter of Jesse Parsons and Jane Cox. One of her sisters married Abraham Thacker , (Sarah Jane "Lou" Parsons). Another sister Mary married Franklin Thacker We are trying to find out about more of the Parsons family.
