In 1934 a new parish was erected and called Sacred Heart of Jesus in the western part of the city. A colored parish was also established in 1935 and called Fathers of the Precious Blood. Two other works, the defunct St. Edwards College and the prospering St. Mary's Hospital and ajacent educational facilities for nursing. (This is still there and is major hospital of Huntington).
