The following names appear on pp. 96 99, "History of Lawrence County, KY" as men inducted by the local board of Lawrence County, Kentucky, 1917 1919. I found no record of their service when I researched the WWI Service Records in the courthouse. Perhaps they were inducted by the board, but were not enlisted into service for some reason. There are some names which I found very similar to a service record and are indicated with the service record name in parenthesis. Do you know if any of these men did serve in WWI? Are the men who have a similar name actually the same person? If you know anything about any of these names, please contact me. Hi Everyone! Just wanted to wish everyone a joyous holiday season. I'm going home to KY on this Thursday (Dec 17) and won't return until Dec 27th. Sorry I had to halt the daily postings of the "Big Sandy News Highlights" and the Obits, but due to computer problems (AGAIN!) and getting ready for the holidays I was running out of time to get everything done before I leave. But, I will pick up where I left off as soon as I return. And for those of you who are expecting a reply to an e-mail, I'll start answering those as soon as I get back to Georgia soil. Best Holiday Wishes To All!!!!! Beverly L. Hi Everyone, The last time I was home, I spent a great deal of time researching in the Lawrence County Courthouse. While there I came across a huge book which contained the service record documents of LC World War I Soldiers. From this book I gathered much info to update my "Lawrence County Veterans World War I" web page which is on-line at: http://www.mindspring.com/~sixcatpack/wwi.htm However, I have come across conflicting information about the death date of Arlie B. MARTIN (b. May 18, 1896). "Lawrence County, KY Cemeteries Vol. 2" says he died Aug 3, 1949 and "Veterans Roll of Honor" says he died Nov 24, 1918. Can anyone tell me which is correct, please? In addition, I have come across these men who appear to have participated in WWI. I need your help in determining if any of them had been born, lived, died, or buried in Lawrence Co, KY so that I can add them to the veterans web page. Any insight you have on any of them will be appreciated! 1. HARDWICK, Edward b. unk d. unk buried Crum Cemetery 2. CHILDERS, Lawrence b. unk d. unk buried Mullins Cemetery Thanks so much for your help!! Beverly L.
