Hello all! These are the surnames I'm researching from Wayne County! POWERS - SHUFF/SCHOFF - WELLMAN - WORKMAN I am particularly interested in information on WADE HAMPTON POWERS. He was born Jan.7,1851 in Scott Co.,Va. d.Aug.8,1924 in Wayne County. Married to Ida Shuff bef. 1882. Ida was born Jan.16,1867 in Lawrence County, Ohio and died Aug. 2, 1947 in Cabell County,W.Va. She lived in Wayne County. Wade and Ida sold and purchased alot of land between the years 1882 and 1909. Would anyone happen to be researching this line? I would like to find their marriage records. Especially if Wade had been married before. Since he was 16 years older than Ida was, it could be a possibility. If he was married prior to Ida, would also like to have info on any possible children. Thanks! Wishing everyone a Healthy and Prosperous New Year! Lorna Corns-Workman Lorna's Genealogy Page http://www.newwave.net/~pworkman/lorna.htm

Now that the first round of bricks are in the ground a sidewalk at the Lawrence County Courthouse, the Louisa Beautification Committee is setting their sights on a second phase. The second part of the signature brick project will work the same as the first part, and once enough bricks are purchased, they will be placed around another section of sidewalk. Members said they have already received around 30 orders for bricks, but would like to get at least 200 before beginning work on the project. Each brick can contain up to three lines with up to 14 letters per line, including spaces. The cost is $50 per brick. The decorative brick project is part of a larger project taken on by the committee to improve the looks of the downtown area. So far, the group has raised funds to put in new sidewalks around the courthouse as well as plant trees and place new street lights with underground utilities. The group still plans to improve the business side of the street at a later date. Orders for bricks are currently being accepted, and can be placed by contacting Frances Cain at P. O. Box 208, Louisa, KY 41230, or Gallie Isaac, Jr. at 606-638-4108. To order a personalized brick by mail, fill out the form above and mail it to the above address." Beverly L. I am mainly interested in the FULLER line in Wayne County. My FULLERs came from Pike Co KY. I have a Thomas FULLER (b. abt 1843 in Pike Co.) who married a Sarah E. (surname unknown). Thomas' father could be one of three FULLER brothers, John, Calvin or Jesse, sons of Thomas FULLER and Rebecca (?). It is probably John--the three Thomas' were born in Pike Co. in 1843, 44, and 45. I would really like to know the birth name of Sarah E. and also correspond with any FULLER "cousins." (I have found at least one "cousin" thru Rootsweb). Thomas' son George was my great grandfather. He was married to Laura L. RAY. Their son Ulysses Grant (b. 1897, d. 1983) was my grandfather. I am also researching some information on Melcena GARRETT RAY, Laura's mother. Apparently Laura was born out of wedlock and she received the surname RAY (her mother's married name). Melcena was from Lawrence Co. OH but also lived in Wayne Co. Thanks for any help. BUT it is now a new year and I'm feeling much better so I expect to get back to business... Most all of the subscribers have slacked off posting lately and I believe it was because of the holidays. Perhaps now we could all make an effort to start things rolling again... One of the best ways of doing this is to post the lines we are most interested in..I will post mine today and hopefully everyone else will follow..PLEASE..... The surnames from Wayne county I am most interested in are: ADKINS, CORNS, NOE and NEWMAN... Fran Namotka List Manager
