BIG SANDY NEWS LOUISA, LAWRENCE COUNTY, KENTUCKY JANUARY 5, 1912 MRS. CLITA BORDERS, wife of Marion Borders, formerly of this county, but more recently of London, Ohio, died in a Columbus hospital on Sunday Dec. 31. Her body was brought here the following day and was taken to her old home near Ulysses where it was buried Tuesday, Jan. 2nd in the Borders graveyard. Mrs. Borders died of appendicitis. When she was taken to the hospital it was too late for an operation. She was 52 years old and is survived by her husband and several children. She was a devout christian and devoted wife and mother. The family moved from the home place about four years ago. Mrs. Borders was the aunt of Mr. Lon Burton of this city. MRS. MORGAN MARTIN, age 88, died at her home on Little Blaine this week. Death was due to the infirmities of age. She was a good christian woman. HICKSVILLE NEWS - Death visited the home of MR. FUGATE and took from him his loving wife. She leaves seven children. She was laid to rest in the Holbrook Cem. Signed: Three Girls RICHARDSON NEWS - JAMES H. MILEM died Dec. 19, 1911, age 75. He leaves a wife and 8 children. MRS. Forrest Stewart played the leading role; Henry Sullivan was the villian; Lou Borders was the vagabond; Boyd Ferguson was the lover; Harry Cooley had the negro part. Also in the play were Miriam Hatcher, Emma Burchett, Hester Roffe and Maggie Yates. Dec 25, 1896 Uncle Zach Salyer of Peach Orchard was buried alive when a bin of coal was dumped on him. OBIT. BIG SANDY NEWS. Wednesday, January 13, 1999. MONT WILLIAM BALL 1924-1999. Mont William Ball, 74, of Xenia, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 6 at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Ball was born Jun 6, 1924 in Fallsburg, Kentucky, a son of the late Blaine and Martha Short Ball. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Taylor and June Woods; and five brothers, Jim, Edward, Pete, Perk , and Dan Ball. He was a retired technician and model maker in the engineering department for Wright State University, worked for Bowser-Morner Testing Laboratories, worked for Monsanto Chemical Company, and was a Naval Air Force veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife, Marietta Crase Ball of Xenia; one son, Christopher Ewen (Linda) Ball of Lake Orion, Michigan; two grandsons, Christopher William Ball of Dayton, Ohio, and Jesse Ray Ball of Lake Orion; two sisters, Thelma Roberts and Jacquelyn Ball, both of Louisa; and one brother, Blaine Ball, also of Louisa. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 9 at Neeld Funeral Home, Xenia. Neeld Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements. Beverly L. OBIT. BIG SANDY NEWS. Wednesday, January 13,1999. KARL C. RANKIN 1928-1999. Karl C. Rankin, 70, of Louisa died Monday, January 4 at Three Rivers Medical Center. Mr. Rankin was born August 29, 1928, in Richmond, Kentucky, a son of the late Millard and Ada Martin Rankin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lewis Rankin and one sister, Thelma Aldridge. He was a retired Florida State Highway Department worker, a retired Air Force veteran and attended the Baptist Faith. Survivors include three daughters, Venda Joyce Pack of Louisa, Vickie Slater of Lansing, Michigan and Eva Markham of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Karl Rankin, Jr., of Salt Lake City, Utah; five sisters, Mildred Petry, and Loretta Rankin, both of Somerset, Kentucky, Rena Burrus of Louisville, Kentucky, Sarah Henderson of Richmond, and Norma Jean Cain of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers, Roy Rankin of Lecanto, Florida and Joe Rankin of Somerset; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 8, at Oldham-Roberts-Powell Funeral Home, Richmond. Burial was in Richmond Cemetery, Richmond.
