    1. Gabriel Houck of Huntington?
    2. Bruce Nolin
    3. Hi - I am Kathy not Bruce and I am new to this list. I am looking for the family of my GGGuncle Gabriel T. Houck who was living in Huntington in the early 1900's. His records may be the only link I have to his sister Forest Rose HOUCK, my gggrandmother, and thus to finding out who their parents were. Gabriel died, it is said, in the VA hospital there but I found no death record in Cabell Co. I hope that some kind person will be able to help me as I understand Wayne County is the possible place for his death certificate. This is what I THINK I know about him -- Descendants of Gabriel T. Houck 1 Gabriel T. Houck b: January 1878 Poss Putnam Cty WV or Mason Cty WV d: Huntington, Cabell or Wayne Cty, WV ? . +Cledie ..... 2 Mervin Houck ..... 2 Russell Houck *2nd Wife of Gabriel T. Houck: . +Eliza A. Gillispie m: December 06, 1902 Putnam County, WV *3rd Wife of Gabriel T. Houck: . +Florence White b: August 03, 1894 Putnam Cty or Mason Cty, WV ? m: April 10, 1915 Huntington, Cabell Cty, WV d: October 02, 1940 Huntington, Cabell Cty, WV Father: Charles White Mother: Annettie (?) Bush ..... 2 Thelma Houck b: January 27, 1915 Huntington, Cabell Cty, WV ..... 2 daughter Houck b: May 24, 1933 Huntington, Cabell Cty, WV d: May 24, 1933 Born dead at home. At the time of Gabe's marriage to Florence White (1915) it was listed on his marriage record that both he and his bride were residents of Cabell Cty, WV. Gabe and his family lived at 1845 Railroad Avenue, Huntington (Kyle District) , WV from at least 1933 through at least 1940 as this was the address listed on his infant daughter's death record (1933) and his wife's death record (1940). However, Gabe was not listed in the Huntington WV 1945 City Directory and therefore had either moved or died before 1946. Florence was buried according to her death certificate at Johnson Cemetery by mortician Henry Reger of Huntington on Oct 4, 1940. She died at home at 1845 Railroad Ave, Huntington (Kyle District), Cabell Cty, WV. Does anyone know where Johnson's cemetery is or was? What church affiliation if any? Thanks in advance Kathy in Kill Devil Hills NC Researching: HOUCK, PRITCHARD, McLAUGHLIN, CHRISTY in OH and WV

    3. Dallas: Thanks for the response. Jeannie Linville of Ona, WV once sent me information showing that my Great-great grandfather Harden Scaggs had an account at the Gilkerson in Round Bottom in the 1853, 1854 and/or 1855 time frame. If you should happen to have any additional information on Harden Scaggs and his family, I would appreciate hearing from you. My objective is to determine who his parents are. In the 1860 Wayne County, V/WV censis, he indicated that he was 29 years old and was born in KY. Many in the Wayne County area believe that he came from the Scaggses/Skaggses of Lawrence County, but I haven't found the link yet. At the same time, many family stories suggest that he came from Virginia. I have found an Isaac Scaggs associated with a businass meeting at the salem Baptist Church in 1847 (now Grennbrier Missionary Baptist) and Harriet Scaggs was a member there when she died in the 1850s, but so far I have been unable to link them positively to Harden Scaggs The Margaret Scaggs was another Scaggs in Wayne County in this time frame so I have been trying to see if anyone had information on her. In 1860 Squire Scaggs and William Mason Scaggs also had families in Wayne County. I have information on Squire's family, but very little on on William Scaggs. If you have any information or suggestions, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks again for your response. I look forward to hearing from you and others. 3. Bob; You might want to look at book "Ferguson Family Genealogy History, by Evelyn Massie". Augusta FULLER bn Nov 1866 d 13 Jul 1947 was the 3rd wife of Samson Saunders DAVIS bb 1846 d 19 Dec 1935. children : Angie 1896, Virgil, 1899, Pauline ca 1900, Elizabeth L. 1903, Irene 1905 d 1918. Most of them are buried in Brownstone Cem., Ceredo WC. The store sounds like the one owned by my John Gilkerson who had a store near there in 1853/8. One of the cousins has a store record of person who charged there purchases. A few years ago, there names were listed in the Wayne Co Genealogy Column of the Wayne Co News by a fine old gentleman, and now I am his age and cant recall his name. The GiLKERSON's are related to those FULLER's but I just dont no how. My GGfather, Rev John T. JOHNSON who lived at Prichard and served the Wayen Methodist Circuit is buried near the Smith Chapel. His daughter Florence b ca 1857 married Jefferson FULLER his 2cd marriage. They are buried in the GILKERSON Cem at Prichard, may be more FULLERS there as when I gathered the names years ago, I was only searching for GILKERSON's and happed to get Florence JOHNSON Fuller's name too. 3. Good evening, Does anyone on the list have access to the 1910 Wayne County WV census? My wonderful cousin, Charles Pratt, just sent me names of possible siblings for my grandfather. This is the family I'm researching: Albert Dillard Meredith (1862 KY) + Isabelle Margaret Dunaway (dob/place unknown) Children: William Barnell Meredith 1-19-1896 Kenova WV .............. Margaret Meredith 8-21-1908 Wayne Co WV .............. Grace Meredith 4-2-?1909 Wayne Co WV .............. Frederick Meredith 9-8-1910 Wayne Co WV .............. Francis Edward Meredith 10-2-1912 Wayne Co WV There is a large gap between my grandfather, William, and the other children. I've also been told that the siblings in between may have been Bruns, Ed, Chris & Sallie. Can anyone out there help me with this family? I've tried getting info/films from the LDS but I've been told that the WV records have not been filmed. Thanks in advance! Barb in GA
