Nancy; Wash your mouth out, Prichard is not part of Huntington WV as this is abt 10-12 miles southwest of Huntington and Prichard persons donot appear in the city directory, however persons from Kenova and Ceredo are listed. I am probably related to the SHANNON's of Prichard. Let me know if I can help you. Welcome to the WVWAYNE mailing list! You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to WVWAYNE as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to [email protected] that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to [email protected] 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to [email protected] to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to [email protected] to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to [email protected] It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. Also please be aware that some systems who house USGW pages (non-Rootsweb) are going to be turned off intentionally for the date rollover. How long this will be for is anyone's guess. As of now the Indiana state page is down for unknown reasons but this may be the case of working on the date rollover. If so, I'm sure that there will be others. I just don't know but this one could have been born abt 1835 as a son Marshall is born abt 1860 and dies in Wayne co in 1935..I know the name Marshall seems to be our(Raleigh and mercer co) families here...It would be so neat to find who this family belongs to..did this family come in from Ky and a separate family from ours here or has one of ours wandered off and went toward Lincoln or Wayne..? This family is an old family friend that I have promised to find a link to ours abt 15 or so years ago! Just now getting to it...nan Jeannie wrote: > Nancy, > > Here's a possible match for you. Twas The Day Before Yesterday TWAS the day before yesterday and all through the branches, NOT a name to be found, none of my ancestors. THE Journals and Bibles were dusty and worn, WHY should we care, these kinfolk are gone. THE pictures of children and family, long ago dead, ARE scattered, crinkled, and crammed under beds. DAD in his chair, and I with a book, HAD just settled back to give the TV a look. WHEN out on the street there arose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter. ON the way to the window I tripped with a crash, I tore open the curtains and looked through the glass. THE sun in the sky was nowhere in sight, THE clouds were so gray, it could have been night. WHEN what to my wondering eyes should appear, THE Mailman with packages, letters and cards of good cheer. THE driver was grumbling while sorting his letters, I knew in a moment, things had to get better. THE size of one letter stood out from them all, A distant cousin was asking about family, one and all. THE names of Grandpa and Grandma, Great Grandparents all, NEXT came my Father, my Brother, and Uncle Paul. FROM cousins and uncles to aunts and nephews, NIECES and in-laws, just to name a few. SO through the many journals and photos, and stuff I possessed, MY search for my ancestors slowly progressed. WHILE up the family tree I gradually climbed, MY ancestors names, I was seeking to find. UPON that tree I have carved many a name, THE branches of which, will never be the same. THE tree is now filled with many I've found, BUT in the search for others, now I am bound. THE ancestors whose names, I have written with love, THE Lord has gathered to take to His Father above. WITH so many names yet to be carved on that tree, I have little time to waste on games and TV. GATHERING names, photos, histories and places, REQUIRES a lot of love, patience, and God's good graces. SOME were Farmers, Soldiers and such, Mothers and Fathers who struggled much. SOME were Settlers, who traveled far, some Adventures, who followed the stars. SOME were rich but most were poor, they came by ship, seeking more. SOME died young, others old, many their stories yet untold. I cried when I thought of those brothers and sisters, FOR I am who I am, thanks to my ancestors. MY family is but one branch on the Tree of Life, A tree that grew strong through toil and strife. ALONE, I'm just a bare twig or a stub, TOGETHER we build a Family Tree of Love (Written by Linnie Vanderford Poyneer one night after a long day of research) ==== ADKINS Mailing List ==== Add your Adkins obituaries, queries, biographies, wills, deeds, bible records, and pensions to the Adkins Message Boards: http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jjadkins/genealogy/boards.html

Hi Bill, Dallas, Mike and WV researchers, I'm also researching a Meridith/Johnson couple. John P Meredith ca 1815-1830 probably Ky married Martha Jane Johnson ca 1835-1836 (daughter of Thompson Johnson). I'm sure there are some WV ties somewhere since one of their children, Albert Dillard Meredith, moved his family there. I'll have to look at my notes again but I believe they lived on Poplar St. in Kenova. Albert died in Kenova 13th Aug 1933. Info on his death certificate was given by Sally Meredith Terry. Does anybody have any connections or corrections on this family? Thanks, Barb in GA
