James Kirk was in the Civil War and was captured and sent to Prison at Vicksburg, Mississippi, but escaped and came back to Wayne Co. He also had a brother who fought for the south, and was supposed to have been killed at the Battle of Peachtree. James Kirk married Mazie "Emeline" Parsons, Sept 8, 1868 in Lawrence Co, Ohio and lived in Ky. for a short time before moving back to Wayne Co. Emeline was the daughter of Jesse Parsons and Jane Cox. One of her sisters married Abraham Thacker , (Sarah Jane "Lou" Parsons). Another sister Mary married Franklin Thacker We are trying to find out about more of the Parsons family. Any help you can give us will be appreciated. Thank you.

During a privacy hearing Thursday before a House Judiciary subcommittee, Rep. Ed Pease (R-Ind.) said the growing number of websites that allow people to trace their families' history was a threat that called for legislative action. It discusses the 19th century "genealogist," GUSTAVE ANJOU (1863-1942), who apparently made his living bilking wealthy clients by creating fraudulent genealogies. He went so far as to forge documents purporting to prove these genealogies. MANY OF HIS BOOKS CAN STILL BE FOUND IN FAMILY HISTORY CENTERS! Not only that, many other genealogists relied on his work which means that you should always check bibliographies and footnotes for his name. If it is there -- beware! 3. Hi Karen, My grandparents lived on Whites Creek and I still have a ton of Aunts and Uncles there. Look on your map of WV... Kenova is the furthest point west. From Kenova go south on US 52 it goes straight towards the BIG SANDY RIVER. At a small community called Cyrus you will see Whites Creek. Connie

    3. Hello everybody--- Can anyone tell me exactly where White's Creek is located? Is it part of Wayne, or a town by itself,in Wayne County? My Reuben and Rachel Cornwell are said to have died there abt 1910, and their son Watson lived there. Also, if Polly sees this,my server mail is being returned and I am not sure if you are receiving it from my secondary webmail address. Sure would like to discuss Napier with you. Thanks---happy hunting everyone! Karen
