Hi Rita, No, there has hardly been anything from Upshur at all, and in a way I am glad. It is the only one I subscribe to now because I have been so involved in so much other stuff I just don't have time for all the extra email. I like Randolph, but they are too busy for me right now. Did you find out how to access the archives? Yes we are still here. The roofers FINALLY got done, and the roof is wonderful. Seems to provide much better insulation than the old one. However, the roofers managed to destroy the evaporative cooler in the process. Like you said way back when, anything to do with roofs always brings problems. After many attempts to fix the cooler they finally agreed to foot the bill for a professional refrigeration company to have a shot at it. They took several shots and then pronunced the cooler dead. I think the roofers torqued it when they moved it. Now the problem is deciding how much to ask for. The cooler was nine years old, but the experts say it should have had a few years left in it. I don't think it would be fair to ask for the whole cost. Anyway, while we were waiting around for all that I called in plasters and painters and ordered new carpet while I was at it. There was no use doing any of that till the roof was fixed. I think the carpet is to be installed week after next. We also wanted to be here for the hearing on the street closures which went before the City Council last Wednesday, and they voted it down 5 to 3! I just couldn't believe it. I didn't expect to win, I just intended to go down fighting. We are like David going up against Goliath. They have unlimited money to spend, and all we have is what we can scratch together out of our own pockets. It was decided only one person would speak for us, so happily I didn't have to speak, which would have scared me into fits. But two days before the hearing I sent email letters to the mayor and all the council members.
