    1. [WVUPSHUR] Kings - Upshur? 1770-1810
    2. Pat
    3. Hi, I joined the Upshur list to try to chase down some Kings - specifically a Lawrence b. c. 1770 m. c. 1790 to Jane. I think he was a brother of Stephen, and I would like to think they were the sons of Cornelius King who was one of the "first settlers of Jackson". Also, a Joshua King who married in Monongalia to Eliz. Walcott (I've seen some Walcotes, etc.). I think Joshua would have also been born about 1770 - probably a little earlier. I can't say they are from Ushur, but I do know you have some later Kings who had a Cornelius and Lawrence in a Joshua King's family. The Lawrence I am trying to track first turns up in Wood with Stephen in the 1810 & 20 Census, along with a stray James who doesn't stay around. Stephen stayed in Wood and has a well-defined family there. Lawrence moved to Ohio and I think his younger sons were Joshua, James and Robert (in reverse order). All of this I cannot prove. Lawrence had three older daughters who probably married in Wood just before he went to Ohio. The time was right, but I have no records of them. It is the combination of Lawrence, Cornelius and Joshua in Upshur that fascinates me. Can any tell me of the 1770-1810 bunch? Many thanks Pat Snyder
