Samantha Phillips (b 1802) (my ggg grandmother ) married Martin Cudworth Burr in 1821. Martin died in 1825 in French Creek. They had 2 sons, Martin & Elbridge. Martin (the son) is buried at Indian Camp Cemetery and Elbridge is buried at Pleasant Dale Cemetery in Hinklesville. Samantha married again to Nathan Gould and they had children, Marshall, Jonathan and Roxie. Samantha Phillips' parents were Elijah Phillips & Cynthia Goodwin, Cynthia's sister Anna was married to David Phillips and they had a son, Richard. Yes, Samatha and Richard would be 1st cousins. I have just spent the weekend in Upshur County trekking through the cemeteries and such. I do have some information on the burial places of these individuals, but I still could not find where Martin Cudworth Burr was buried. It seemed strange to me that his son Elbridge was buried seemingly alone at Pleasant Dale Cemetery in Hinkleville, while Elbridge's mother, brother and daughter (Ladassa Burr) were all buried at Indian Camp. What I was hoping to prove irrefutably was that Elbridge is indeed the son of Martin Cudworth Burr and Samantha Phillips. There is no birth record, the death record doesn't name the parents. If anyone knows of a record out there that could help me, I would appreciate knowing about it. Thank you for all of the responses to my original posting.
