    3. You can purchase the 1900 Upshur Co., WV. census, go back to the Upshur Co., GenWeb page I maintain at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvupshur/ and go to the list of books or the Upshur Co Historical Society link, there you will find the information you need to order it. 3. Patricia: Thank you for the information on the marriage of Wm. Hyre and Birdie Dean. Page 138 of my copy of the marriage book didn't print right, and I couldn't quite make out what it said. I will just paste what you sent over top of that entry. The name Jenetta is a good clue that she was my William's mother. You don't see that too often, so I am going with that for now. Also what I was looking for when I sent the query was children of William and Birdie. I am very interested in them because I am related (distantly) to William Hyre on my mother's side, and Birdie (her mother was Sarah Kiddy whose marriage shows up in the Lewis County book for some reason or other) is my cousin on my father's side, so I am very interested in their children, but can't find any. I don't have the census for 1900, 1910, etc, and I suppose that is where they would appear. Do you have those records? I am glad of any information I can get and appreciate your help. 1. [WVUPSHUR-L] 1890 Census Records
    2. Glenn Belcher
    3. We really do need the 1890 Census, however, this was burned in 1921. At the time, the census schedules were located in the basement of the Commerce Building in Washington, D. C. Even though the fire was contained, it flooded the area. The damage was not assessed until the following day, and it was noted that the census records soaked in the water overnight outside the protected vault area. The schedules were dried out, re-copied. But it was impossible to restore them. So? They should still be intact, yes? In 1932 Congress authorized certain documents to be destroyed, which included the original 1890 schedules. Then, in 1934, the remaining schedules were destroyed by the Department of Commerce. Some of the mid-western census records are still available. For example, the 1890 Illinois schedules were later found, and again in 1953, when some fragmented schedules were discovered. Family History Centers have microfilmed these fragmented schedules which consist mostly of mid-western states, and then, not all counties, or enumeration districts are in tact. Jeannette H. 1. [WVUPSHUR-L] Radenbaker/Roethenbacher & Schiller families
    2. Vicki and Kerry
    3. I'm trying to locate any information on the following Upshur Co. residents: Ida Schiller, daughter of Anton & Anna/Ann(nee Radenbaker) Schiller; Anton & Anna/Ann (nee Radenbaker) Schiller; any members of the Radenbaker family, known names of family members are Ambrose & Christina and their daughters Anna/Ann, Martha & Elizabeth - there is also a Louisa Radenbaker living with Anton & Ann Schiller in 1870 Upshur Co. census. Elizabeth Radenbaker married Watson Tenney. I know very little about any of the Radenbakers other than Elizabeth, although I do know the burial place for Ambrose & Christina. Radenbaker has been found as Rothenbacher, Roethenbacher & Baker, among other spelling variations I would be happy to share what information that I have with anyone else who is interested in these families. Thanks for your help! Vicki Smith kbruce@accesstoledo.com

    2. Matika
    3. Good Morning fellow listers, I am trying to find further information on the following Harvey Surname line. Any help out there? Thank you to all those who can help me out and a Happy New Year to everyone. James L. Harvey born. March 1807 who married Ester? It is believed James and Ester had a daughter named Malinda, born Jan 1838 and died 27 July 1923. It is supposed that Malinda never married but had 3 children, one of whom was Elam (Elim) J. Harvey, born ABT 1862 in Barbour County WV and who married Mahalia Simmons in Upshur County on 21 Nov. 1878. Mahalia was born Abt. 1853 in Upshur County. Now does anyone have a clue who was Elam's (Elim) father was? OR who were the parents of James L. Harvey? And what was Ester's last name and who were her parents? How about Mahalia Simmons mothers last name and her grandparents? Her parents were George Simmons and Elizabeth ? Hoping to start the new year off right with a fresh lead. Thanks again.
